Alfons Weersink is a professor in the Dept of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Guelph and an adjunct professor with the School of Agriculture and Resource Economics at the University of Western Australia. He has been a faculty member at Guelph since completing his PhD at Cornell university. Alfons' research focuses on the effect of technology and government policy on the decisions made by farmers and the resulting effect on agri-food markets and structure. Recently, the emphasis has been on the role of agri-environmental policy in developing the bioeconomy.
